Permanent makeup from “ A ” to “Z”: types, how to make, care, correction and removal, consequences

Do you want to know how to make permanent makeup? What is this procedure? Why is it dangerous and what advantages does it offer? Then you have come to the right place, because this article will answer most of your questions.

Essence and varieties

“What is it?” — quite a natural question that pops up in the head of most users when they first encounter permanent makeup. I must say, even among those who have already had a chance to resort to the procedure, not everyone fully understands what it is. Therefore, we will conduct a small educational program.

Permanent makeup is the creation of a permanent pattern on the face (or its individual areas), imitating ordinary makeup, due to the introduction of a special coloring pigment into the epidermis and the upper layers of the dermis. Also, this procedure is widely used when you need to emphasize or correct specific facial features or hide its defects.

As for the varieties, there are several variations depending on the application area. The procedure is carried out for:

Eyelids. For this zone, the following are relevant: shadow technique (shading), interstitial and contour coloring.

Lips. Here, color substitution, contour tracing, and 3D permanent makeup are used.

Eyebrows. In the course of such methods as hair technique, shooting and 3D-volume are used.

Good to know! The compliance of the result with your expectations largely depends not only on the skills of the master, but also on the detail of the compiled tech. tasks. The more details (and ideally similar images) you provide to the wizard, the better the result will be.

The advantages of permanent makeup are obvious:

The color of the lips/eyebrows/eyelids becomes more saturated, and their contours become neater.

There is no need for daily makeup application and its correction throughout the day.

It is suitable even for allergy sufferers who react sharply to any decorative cosmetics.

With its help, you can correct most of the congenital defects (from the asymmetry of the forms to insufficient / excessive volume) and qualitatively mask small scars or marks on the skin.

Among other things, it is not washed off with water, does not crumble and does not have a greasy shine. This means that even after classes for which regular makeup is contraindicated (for example, swimming in the pool), you will look irresistible.

What is different from tattooing and microblading?

Often in the network you can find the question, what is the difference between permanent makeup and tattooing or microblading. To answer it in an accessible and correct way, we will consider both of these procedures separately.

With tattooing, permanent makeup differs dramatically. The first procedure involves creating an artistic tattoo, while the second involves applying certain pigments to the skin in order to decorate it or, on the contrary, mask existing flaws.

The timing of their “presence” on the skin also varies. A properly made tattoo will remain on the body almost in its original form forever (here, of course, we do not take into account its forced reduction and age-related deformation of the skin). At the same time, those who preferred the second procedure to him, because of the “fading” of the pattern, will have to worry about the question “how long does permanent makeup last” in 3-5 years.

Why, then, are these concepts considered almost synonymous? The answer is simple: in Russia, the percentage of pseudo-elite salons is extremely high. The education of their employees is reduced to accelerated courses on the basics (i.e., superficial concepts) of applying makeup, and therefore, how can girls who have been trained for 2-3 months (no more than 10-15 classes) know such subtleties?

Plus, do not forget about the marketing moves. When all the competing salons offer services for applying permanent makeup, and only one-a mysterious “tattoo” (and it does not matter that in fact the same procedure is meant), the flow of customers is provided to him.

A special “ pen ” (top) for the manual method of applying permanent makeup (microblading) and a device for the hardware method (bottom)

As for the second part of the question, here, on the contrary, to talk about how permanent makeup differs from microblading, it will be absolutely incorrect, because microblading is one of its varieties. Above, we have already touched on the topic of classification of permanent makeup, however, only from the point of view of choosing the area for its application. If we touch on this issue from the point of view of the application method, then here the types of permanent makeup will be as follows.

Manual (aka microblading)

It is carried out using a special “handle” (a device with a particularly thin blade at the end), which does not vibrate and allows the master to manually draw each individual hair.

Hardware

When working, a standard device for permanent makeup is used, the needles of which are driven by an electric motor.

Therefore, as you know, the question “permanent makeup or microblading: what is better” would be more correct to formulate as “what is better, hardware or manual application”. And here there is no clear answer, because too many “ pros “and” cons “ will depend on the specifics of the treated skin and the taste preferences of the person himself.

Good to know! Today, the procedure for applying permanent makeup has dozens of names. Therefore, in order not to be fooled by beautiful words, always check with cosmetologists the essence of the upcoming procedure. Who knows, perhaps in the next salon, where it is held the same, but under a different name, the price will be lower.

Nuances of proper care

We already know how long permanent makeup lasts — on average, from 2 to 5 years. However, a reasonable question arises: what is the reason for such a significant time period?

Someone will say the specifics of the skin, someone will indicate as the reason the quality of the pigments used in the application, someone will lay the responsibility on the master. All these statements take place, but we must not forget that not the last role in this process is played by the care of permanent makeup, which is traditionally divided into 2 stages.

Stage 1: Healing

After the procedure of permanent makeup on the skin in the treatment area, a slight swelling is formed, which cosmetologists advise to fight with the help of dry ice wrapped in a clean, dense cloth.

After a couple of days, a hard crust is formed, which is strictly forbidden to tear off or wet! In other words, for the time until it falls off, you will have to give up visiting the pool (baths, saunas, etc.), physical activity that causes profuse sweating, as well as any cosmetics for the face that have a softening or cleansing effect.

Stage 2: All remaining time

If at the first stage you did not violate the prohibitions, and the healing went without problems, further care after permanent makeup is reduced to daily hygiene procedures and attention to the treated areas.

As soon as you begin to notice that the drawing fades or deforms, you will need to contact a cosmetologist. After the inspection, he will make the necessary correction, and your image will once again sparkle with bright colors.

Correction and deletion

Although the possibilities of permanent makeup are resorted to everywhere today, unfortunately, not in all cases, the initial results meet expectations. There are dozens of reasons for this: from the unprofessionalism of the master to the individual reactions of the skin itself. It makes no sense to list them, so it is better to analyze in more detail how you can remove permanent makeup or make edits to it.

Correction

Correction of permanent makeup sooner or later is required for everyone who decided to apply it. After all, over time, the color fades, the skin is slightly deformed, and many mistakes of an inexperienced master do not immediately make themselves felt. This procedure does not require much effort or financial costs and is divided into the following types below.

Changing the color

In the modern market of cosmetics, the share of low-quality pigments is quite high, and therefore we can often observe in people who have made permanent makeup, purple or green eyebrows, brown lips, etc. This problem is eliminated quite simply: the master selects the desired color and re-applies it to the problem area.

Contour correction

As you can easily guess from the name, the contour is processed during the procedure. On the border itself, color correction is applied (described above), and a remuver is inserted around it under the skin. Moreover, if the makeup was applied recently, you can make a correction in just one session.

Camouflage

This procedure is reduced to the introduction of a flesh-colored pigment under the skin, as a result of which a masking “spot” is formed, covering the problem area. The main disadvantage is that you can use this technique only on small areas, and in the area around the lips, an unnaturally light contour is often formed (due to incorrect color selection).

Removal

Unfortunately, the correction does not always help. And then the only solution is to remove the traces of unsuccessful work. However, do not be afraid of these words. The days of surgical excision, mechanical dermabrasion (resurfacing), and infrared coagulation are slowly but surely becoming a thing of the past. And they are replaced by more modern and gentle methods.

Laser removal of permanent makeup

This method is more popular, because it is considered the most effective, and the effect can be observed after the first session. Its essence is as follows: the problem area is treated with a neodymium laser, whose wavelength is 1064 nm. The beam penetrates the skin to a depth of up to 0.5 cm and by thermal action destroys the capsules of the crystallized pigment by that time. This treatment is great for working with cold colors (blue, green), but it is practically useless against warm shades.

Removing permanent makeup with a remover

In this case, the removal of the pigment is carried out with the help of a special biochemical composition — “Rejuvi Tattoo Remover”. The essence of the procedure is that the remuver is injected under the skin, after which the capsules of the coloring substance are not crushed (as in the case when laser removal of permanent makeup is used), but are removed from the body in their original form due to the lymphatic system

It is worth noting that the choice between these options is not always determined solely by the client’s preferences. Often, to achieve the optimal result, the following factors come to the fore:

The age of application and the depth to which the pigment has managed to penetrate the skin layers.

The type of dye, its nature, properties.

The scale of the problem. As a rule, the remuver is used to treat small areas (for example, the edges of the eyebrows or the corners of the lips), and laser removal is required for complete information.

The quality of the equipment and the amount of materials to work with.

Professional skills of the master.

Specific features and reactions of the client’s body. For example, intolerance to certain active substances or hypersensitivity of the skin.

Therefore, if you have already firmly decided to resort to correcting or deleting the image that did not turn out, you should not rush in this matter. If in the end you want to get the best permanent makeup, find an opportunity to meet with a really competent cosmetologist and discuss with him all possible scenarios.

Good to know! Both the application and removal of permanent makeup-the procedures are almost painless (thanks to pain-relieving creams and anesthetic drugs). However, pain can be provoked by their psychological expectation. To avoid this, it is enough to first take a tincture of valerian (with the permission of the doctor).

Self-processing

Today, the cost of professional cosmetic services is steadily increasing, while pigments for permanent makeup are sold in the public domain for a very reasonable price. Therefore, it is not surprising that people who have decided to independently correct the consequences of unprofessionally applied permanent makeup are gradually becoming more and more.

The choice, of course, everyone here makes himself, but, as practice shows, the disadvantages of such “savings” significantly outweigh its advantages. So, you can:

disfigure the skin with scars and burns, choosing the wrong remedy or not calculating the dose;

introduce an infection, due to the lack of necessary skills, equipment and sterility of the room;

put your life in danger if one of the components suddenly turns out to be an allergen (and provokes anaphylactic shock), and there will be no one to help you.

You can continue this list indefinitely. But fans of such techniques will face their consequences not only in the text, but also directly.

“When makeup is banned” or contraindications for the procedure

Although the application of permanent makeup is universal, it, unfortunately, like other procedures, has a number of contraindications. Some of them are temporary, some are permanent, but it will not hurt everyone to know about both of them.

As you can see, there are enough contraindications for this procedure. Therefore, if you still decide to make permanent makeup, the first step should be to consult with a cosmetologist and your doctor.

Only in this way you can avoid health problems and get a beautiful expressive image, and not a “painted face”.
